Mush & Alga's Adventure: Carnival Cruise to Tulum
We left on our first cruise from Mobile, Alabama, headed to Cozumel and then to the port of Calica, where we went to Tulum. Unfortunately, we didn't take pics in Cozumel but we got the ship and Tulum photos. If you've never seen Tulum, you owe yourself a trip. It is absolutely awesome and we are personally convinced that the Mayans had help not from this world. They were just too advanced for that period of tim...

Carnival Cruise to TulumWednesday, September 05, 2012
We decided to go on our first cruise at the urging of my sister, Lynnell.  The new family of her granddaughter loves cruises and have been on around thirty.  So, off we went to Mobile, Alabama to get on the Carnival Fantasy.  We arrived in Mobile by the grace of God and Alan's excellent driving skills.  It was raining most of the trip and in Houston some hotshot driver started skidding and was heading straight for us, Alan let off the gas and he missed us by a foot, hit the guard rail and went completely across all lanes of traffic without hitting anyone or hurting himself.  We were so grateful to get on that boat!

Our group were party animals, we just sat back and watched!  We had an ocean view room (we want a balcony next time) and it was very clean and nice.  We had fun exploring the ship, it was huge.  We docked at Cozumel first but didn't have many good pictures.  We went by taxi to a local hotel that had good snorkeling, our first time, and loved it.  The water was cold, wish I had know about the swim skins that we now take with us on every trip.  We fell in love with snorkeling and try to do it any time we can.  Only in Cozumel for a few hours, not enough time to see much.

The next day we went a very short distance to Calica, a cruise ship port that was only that, no shops, town, only buses and vans to take you on your excursions.  Calica sits between Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

The Mayans ruins of Tulum sit on a 39' bluff that looks toward the sunrise and in the old days it served as a major port for the city of Coba.  The views and the ocean are stunning.  We spent a little time in the town of Tulum before heading back to the boat to return back to Mobile.  Loved our first cruise but didn't have time to see much so two weeks later we were back in Playa del Carmen seeing everything we missed the first time!

After our cruise we didn't want to go straight home so we grabbed my sister, Lynnell and her friend, and headed for the coast.  We would up in Biloxi, Mississippi, at the Hard Rock Cafe.  It had been rebuilt after the hurricane, it had wonderful rooms....great bed and shower.  They had gambling but we didn't gamble, just explored the marina.  Then it was time to go home and back to the real world.
